Passion for rubber testing equipment. Dedication to the production of the highest quality hardness testing instruments. Years of experience and a wealth of knowledge. That’s the story of how Bareiss came to be.
It all began with the vision of Heinrich Bareiss. The vision to produce mechanical hardness testers. With years of dedication, engineering, and manufacturing of rubber testing equipment, Bareiss soon became renowned among material testing companies worldwide.
In 1954, Heinrich Bareiss founded the company when he introduced and began manufacturing a high-quality mechanical hardness tester.
The first test stand, BS 61 was introduced to provide durometer stability in positioning and pressure. The design principles of this stand have not changed much in over 60 years.
Bareiss introduces a universal testing device with a timing control and a safety stop feature. This patented device was developed especially for concave and convex materials, according to Shore A, B, 0 and D. Two years later, its measuring range was extended once again, to IRHD micro, normal and soft.
Bareiss is seeing a surge take place in production, with many of their International orders going to Russia.
As the demand increases for hardness testing in the rubber industry throughout the European market, so does the expansion for Bareiss instruments. While industrial development continues to grow in countries like France and Italy, we are seeing many more customers express a great interest in our products.
A revolutionary change took place in the 80’s when Bareiss introduced their rubber hardness tester model u72/80e. The hardness test for this new generation was no longer based on mechanical means alone, but on mechanical and electronic integration. Besides the analog presentation of the measured data, the digital presentation and output can be achieved through the assistance of electronic equipment. The U72 is truly the best-selling DIGI TEST II first-generation product today.
The company undergoes a major expansion by building a new factory on the Danube river in the historic tow n center, on the Upper Swabian Baroque Route.
Brigitte Wirth and Peter Strobel are the second generation to assume the Managing Directors position for the company.
In addition to being more powerful electronically, the test head for the U72/94A was changed from manual to an automatic probing system for IRHD.
Peter Strobel initiated the accreditation of Bareiss as the first official DKD calibration laboratory in Germany according to DIN EN 45001 for calibrations of the measurement category of hardness, according to Shore DIN 53505 and IRHD DIN 53519.
We developed the testing device IRHD Micro Compact with a patented start-up system and handwheel.
Bareiss introduced the new digi test device, the most flexible and state of the art hardness tester worldwide. This impressive modular fully automatic tester offers measuring units for the entire Shore and IRHD ranges.
The handheld hardness tester HPE II set new standards with its patented compression system . This digital hardness tester also transmits the measured values wirelessly to a computer.
The industry is the first truly automatic rubber ring positioning device, through infrared laser scanning to determine the correct position of the rubber ring, and can do double point measurement and thickness measurement. The technology has been mature since 2006, proving once again that borui is in the field of rubber hardness testing.
We introduced the first automatic rubber o- ring positioning device, using infrared laser scanning to determine the correct position of the rubber ring and provide multiple measurements.
With 58 years of experience in the Rubber Testing industry the company continued to grow successfully in all key markets. Bareiss opened a branch in Shanghai, China to better serve our presence in Asia.
Our company founder Heinrich Bareiss died in December at the age of 88. Since his company was founded in 1954, he has been and still is an invaluable role model for us, with his visions, ideas, and determination.
The 3rd generation of the HPE durometer was released onto the market. The digital handheld hardness tester HPE III determines not only the hardness, but also the temperature of the test specimen, as well as the ambient temperature and humidity.
Katrin Shen and Oliver Wirth assumed the Managing Directors position as the third generation of this family business.
We celebrated the opening of our state of the art , modern production building. Amongst some of the impressive upgrades we introduced ,was an air conditioning system that transforms the energy output from our machinery exhaust to cooling and heating the production hall. Our mission is to be eco-friendly ,recycle ,renew, sustain, and always think green.
We opened calibration laboratories in Shanghai and Taipei to provide better product support and services for our Pan-Asia customers.
We introduced the world’s first rotational closed cavity rheometer with unlimited strain , the RPA Ultra. The instrument is designed to measure dynamic and static properties of raw elastomers and rubber compounds in all stages of a curing process.
As part of our ongoing global expansion , we opened an office in Canada to better serve our North American customers.
